Book Review | "The Help"

I've been meaning to watch "The Help" for the longest time, sadly I never got the chance to watch it in theaters.
But recently, I was able to get my hands on the book because my sister told me that I should definitely read it before watching the movie.
And so I just finished reading it a few hours ago and I must say...
WOW
One of the best books I've read in a really long time.
I couldn't put the book down !! I had to force myself to stop because of how good the book was that I didn't want to finish it quickly !! As soon as I started I found myself so into the book that I was unaware of my emotions, I was one with the book.  It made me laugh, brought me to tears, shocked and just so full of different feelings !!
I had to take breaks in between paragraphs when things were intense, it made me sit up straight at some parts and slouch in happiness at other parts.
As soon as I started reading I found myself already halfway through the book in one sitting, the book is quite thick with small writing!
I'm pretty sure most of you have either watched the movie or have heard about it.

Set in the time of Martin Luther King's days where racism was at a peak and especially where it is set - Mississippi !! One of the most racist states back then.
I'm really horrible at describing, I know what I want to say in my head but it just doesn't quite seem to come out the way I want it to... therefore I've written the blurb :

"Enter a vanished world: Jackson, Mississippi, 1962.
Where black maids raise white children, but aren't trusted to not steal the silver...

There's Aibileen, raising her seventeenth white child and nursing the hurt caused by her own son's tragic death; Minny, whose cooking is nearly as sassy as her tongue; and white Miss Skeeter, home from college, who wants to know why her beloved maid has disappeared.

Skeeter, Aibeleen and Minny. No one would believe they'd be friends; fewer still would tolerate it. But as each woman finds the courage to cross boundaries, they come to depend and rely upon one another.
Each in search of a truth. And together they have an extraordinary story to tell..."

Even the blurb doesn't describe how amazing this book is or what stories it contains, secrets and events.
I cant wait now to watch the movie, to watch what I have just lived through in my imagination come to real life.

I can't emphasize enough on how much I want you to read this book, to see life from a different time, a different angle.  It made me see things in a different perspective and it gave me a new found respect to people in todays life that are currently in the same positions as the characters in the book.

My family has all read the book and NONE are disappointed with what they have read.

Give it a read, I KNOW you won't be disappointed...
I wasn't.

Inspiration | Favorite Quote

Be The Change You Want to See in The World
- Gandhi

This is absolutely my favorite quote and i wish the whole world would just get inspired by it and actually do something ! There are a lot of things in this world that need to be changed and they CAN be changed but the problem is that not enough people contribute.
I myself don't do as much as i know i can do and i am pretty sure a lot of people are the same.
Things that i will try to do as often as i can to not only better myself but my family as well and to inspire all those around me:

- Recycling - Global warming is still an issue people!! and we are suffering from it ( yes you ) and all of you know it. And when you do it, your children will learn and it will soon become a habit. That is exactly what we want and need.

- Helping the less fortunate - whether it be by giving workers who are working in the scorching hot outside cold water bottles or even 1/4 or half of a kd !! (88 cents or 1 dollar). You will never know how happy you make them and how much you have helped them. Don't YOU want to make someone's day? i know i'd love it if someone made mine...
Smile at workers, they are not beneath you, we are all sons and daughters of adam, without them YOUR life would not be as clean and productive as it is.
Any leftover food that you KNOW will just sit in your fridge till it becomes rotten and then thrown out , put it into plastic disposable plates and give them to the hungry and homeless ( in our case here in kuwait The Mosques )

-Something bothering you? SPEAK UP ! SAY IT ! you have a voice for a reason, you have the right to what you want in your life ! what is the point of living a life that you don't necessarily want or would like to have some aspects changed? politics? you have the right to vote , your vote is your voice. For years i have suffered with this and it is time that i change and i want people who are the same as me to change as well ! and i just starts with one person ... be that person , just 1 rock needs to be thown in water to have many many ripples - if you get what i'm trying to say.

There are an infinite amount of things that need to be changed and each and every one of you has an opinion and a perspective. Show it, don't wait for someone to do it for you and don't complain along the way until after many many years that 1 person finally does it.

You never know, you can be one of the big ones, A Hall Of Fame person.

My Everyday MakeUp | All Time Favourites !!

Since i keep getting asked about my makeup, i thought I'd share my routine and everyday makeup. Yippeee :D

Keep in mind that these are my ALL TIME FAVOURITES and i will rarely change them especially the basics such as concealer and eyebrow shadow.

I've sorted them for you guys in the order that i apply them in and with the details of each product...
i hope this inspires you to try them out and makes you love them as much as i do !!
  ❤❤

1- Estee Lauder DayWear BB cream (SPF 35)
I'm in the colour medium, i just put 5 small dots on each cheek, 1 dot on my chin, 2 on the sides of my nose, 1 on my nose, 3 on my forehead, and 1 on each side of my temples and finally 3 on my neck.
Then i start to blend blend blend ...

2- Mac Studio Finish Concealer (SPF 35)
I just use my finger to apply this all over my undereyes and any blemishes that i have and/or pimples.  It is quite heavy but light at the same time...if that makes sense.  By that i mean that it is a heavy covering concealer but it goes on smoothly and lightly.
One of the produts that i haven't changed for the past 3 years.
I am in the colour-  NC 35

3- MakeUp Forever Super Matte Loose powder
I use this all over my face just to set in the BB cream and the concealer and of course to matify my face.
I'm in the shade number 18

4- Bobby Brown Black Ink Gel Eyeliner
pretty self explanatory, but i line my top lid with this using my bobby brown ultra fine eyeliner brush

5- MakeUp Forever Waterproof Eyeliner Pencil
This is a great pencil liner for creating a subtle line on the bottom of eye just under my bottom lashes. I draw a small thin line from the outer corner of my eye to just after the middle. This creates a nice shadow for an illusion of bigger eyes.
I use the brown colour - 24L

6- Benefit's They're Real Mascara
Oh My Goodness how amazing is this product !! It gives THE best volumizing and lengthening effect EVER, i absolutely adore it❤

7- Naked Flushed Palette
Another self explanatory product that i have reviewed in a past post. Bronzer to contour and blush on the apples of my cheeks.

8- Mac Satin Eyeshadow - Brun
This is probably the longest step for me because im quite oral about having my brows perfect and natural looking. I use an angled mac 263 brush to apply the eyeshadow on my brows using small swift motions to get an even colour.

9- Benefit's Sun Beam Highlighter
Lastly for a great bronzed highlight to finish off my face i use this on the top of my cheek bones just under my eyes and above where i have applied the blush. I dot 3 dots on each side and blend quickly for a beautiful healthy glow.

Disclaimer - I am not a makeup artist these are just the products and ways that i have been using for the past few years and what i found works best for me.

Naked Flushed | My Review

I've recently purchased the Naked Flushed compact and my thoughts on this product are ...
It's amazing!

The bronzer is the perfect colour for my skin tone, its not really dark and not "dirty" looking on my skin. It gives me the exact colour i want to contour and bronze up my face. Yes, it is matte which in my opinion is the only way a bronzer should be because personally i dont like shimmery bronzers.  Also, it is quite buildable and you can make it as harsh or soft as you like.

The blush is quite dark and it has a little bit of shimmer which is okay i guess. You have to be really careful when applying as it does go on as dark as the swatch that is on my arm (above).

The highlighter is super pigmented and has a lot of shimmer but it is very subtle on the face and makes the light bounce off your skin in the perfect way. I use just a little bit of it on my cheek bones using my finger.

Overall this product is the best product that has all 3 in 1 products that a girl practically needs and the tiny size is just right for placing in your purse/bag and even for when you go travelling. Completly light weight and so far my favorite product this month!

I will soon attach a picture of what they look like individually on my face and what all 3 look like as well on my face. ❤
